Thanks for coming

The other day one of my friends, K commented on the way the IPL had turned out to be.(it took me ages to convince MS WORD that the word IPL existed). Yours truly thought that lady luck would stay with Dhoni. And K retorted that the so-called lady resembled a whore, she need not sleep with the same guy every day. Little did i know, that Mr. W (read Shane Keith Warne) had smsed her in advance. Test cricket's highest run scorer without a century, 1001 international wickets, Australian cricket's bad boy - the blond bloke from Tasmania had it all. If anyone had bet that Messrs Warne and co. would conquer the inaugural IPL, they would've ended up millionaires. The tournament underlined Aussie dominance on the world stage and even threw a few names to reckon with in the future. The likes of marsh, Watson, Warne and McGrath reinstated the myth that once a champion, Always a champion.
Chennai might have felt the pinch when Hayden and Mr. cricket, Michael Hussey left; but they did comeback quite strongly, eventually faltering when it mattered most. Coming back to Mr. W, cricket is probably a gentleman's game but warney showed that at times the dirtiest player in the game; is most successful. For a guy who commented that John Buchanan go back to his laptop after beating kolkatta knight riders(sounds a little gayish, ain't it? the thought of riding knights in shining armor), this was truly the icing on the cake. Later on, Dhoni might realise that he had failed to utilize his trump card, joginder sharma, who bowled India to victory in the T20.
All said and done, the tournament's been an extraordinary success with its share of spills and thrills. Kudos to the tournament organizers for scripting something so wonderful, something even bollywood directors might fail to do. Australians might rue the fact that they never gave warney a chance to lead, no point in crying over spilt milk. As an after thought, guess he'd make a nice coach, a 'role' model for the youngsters. (remember the last time that the term role was associated with warne, it wasn't related to cricket.)

P.S: Stuart MacGill announced his retirement from international cricket today. Now, does that sound any 'warne'ing bells? ;-)

Once in a while you come across those simple... level headed people who are very sure of themselves.. and the best part is that they keep us entertained... a friend of mine.. Hats off to you, mate...

"Great men need to be lifted upon the shoulders of the whole world, in order to conceive their great ideas or perform their great deeds. That is, there must be an atmosphere of greatness round about them. A hero cannot be a hero unless in an heroic world. " - Nathaniel Hawthorne
As an avid lover of cricket, i cant find anythin better to describe one of cricket's greatest entertainers... Adam Craig Gilchrist.. known to his close pals as gilly.... a player who had the world on the edge of their seats with those rasping square cuts and short arm pulls... alleged for cheating cos he used a squash ball in his gloves.. that helped him bring him back to the top... back where he deserved to be.... and respected for walking on his own...
When i woke up today morn n switched on the tv.. the score was 32/1 and the first thing that went through my mind was.. hope hayden's out.. (not that i dont admire hayden, but then that guy needs to get out once in a while...) and gilchrist's still battin.... it wasnt the usual fireworks but yet there was a message in it... a message for all those who loved him.. that he wasnt quittin.... he had his share and it was now someone else's turn at it....
There would be two groups of people who'd be pleased to see gilly, the batsman quit... bowlers around the world who have had the ignominy of their spells destroyed by him.... (in crickettin slang... "taken to the cleaners").. the second involves some elite people... who have the power to make mistakes... especially when the canaries are havin a swing... cos every single time Gilchrist nicks one.. he just turns and walks.. as if he gives a damn what the man-in-white thought about it... this is what wiki had to say about it :D, "Gilchrist is renowned for walking when he considers himself to be out, sometimes contrary to the decision of the umpire"
i guess that should be the motto of every batsman... rather than calling themselves bein lucky for havin survived.. for ultimately no one cares which side won... the game always wins...
for a man who holds the most number of dismissals by a wicketkeeper in both forms of the game..... humility is an understatement to describe... cos when he said that he thought he didnt have in him anymore when he dropped laxman durin the test series...... i was bowled over..
Many others would have rubbed it off as a bad day and gone on to represent their teams for another 2-3 years.. (for sub-continent players that'd be 5-6 years...) which showed the ultimate pride for a cricketer... or for that matter, any sportsperson .. should be representing their country as long as they are worthy of it.... take leave when things are at a high note.... cos then a couple of years later looking back would be worth the effort...
finally, the author feels that the claims that haddin is the best wicky-bat in Australliaa... (thats how they say it.. ) is crap.. cos haddin wouldn never even be worth an out-of-form gilly... Its sad to see that he never got a chance to captain his side.. a team that has seen only 4captains in the past decade and a half... (asian teams pls note.. "a decade" is 10 years and not 10 months)... Probably they couldnt have seen their national team represented by a person without integrity (no offense meant.. thats what i've understood of the word the way its being used..)... "A hero's greatest act is to lay down his sword."...

"Blog-alization"

hmmmm.... seemed that whenever my friends read blogs in the net, they'd get back to me and start askin... "dude why don't u blog??".. after all u keep on writin stuff and dont u want others to read it? (i understand that they'd like to see me butchered in a public forum for all that i made them read in school n college :D)
Probably to start off.. its gonna be a lil hard for me cos i prefer writing something without spellin and grammatical mistakes... (i hopelessly contradicted myself :( ) Anyways... i'm goin to enjoy this stint with writing for sure.. cos i can heap praises on myself and dont have to bother wat anyone else thinks abt it ;)
